Trench Rescue

Scope/Overview:

Companies involved with trench construction, especially in areas remote from a professional rescue service, should consider this training for its emergency response personnel. Trench rescue operations can be extremely hazardous for rescuers, especially if not properly trained. Participants of this practical, hands-on course will learn proper procedures for conducting a safe and effective trench rescue. Key topics include soil classifications, reasons for trench failure, trench rescue hazards, personal protective equipment and team gear, atmospheric monitoring, shoring systems, tactical considerations and incident management. Careful consideration of OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1926, Subpart P-Excavations is given throughout the two-day course. Participants also review rope rescue mechanics, i.e. raising and lowering, covered in industrial rope technician training.

16 hours

Prerequisite(s):

Industrial Rope Rescue Basics; Industrial Rope Rescue Technician I, or equivalent, is strongly recommended.
