Trench Rescue Technician

Scope/Overview:

Students will refresh knowledge and skills learned in Trench Rescue Operations as well as learning new skills and techniques for shoring intersecting and deep well trenches. Course meets the requirements for NFPA 1006 Chapter 8 and 1670 Chapter 11. Topics covered: Soil classification and characteristics Equipment Shoring "T" and "L" Trenches Shoring deep wall trenches up to 15 feet deep Atmospheric Monitoring Ventilation Scene Management

  • Rope Rescue Operations Part 1
  • Rope Rescue Operations Part 2
  • Trench Rescue Operations

  • NFPA 1006, 2008 edition chapters 8.2
  • NFPA 1670, 2009 Edition

Student Equipment:

  • Rescue or Leather work gloves
  • Rescue or Firefighting Helmet
  • Long sleeve shirts and pants or Rescue gear
  • Work Boots
  • Safety Glasses
