Flammable Gas Emergencies (LPG)

Scope/Overview:

Features essential knowledge and skills for handling flammable gas incidents in transportation or at fixed facilities. The 12-hour training includes eight hours of classroom, followed by four hours of live burn instruction. The course is recommended to emergency responders in public safety and industry.

Special Features:

FST's LPG Trailer provides realistic live fire training at remote locations around the state.

Course Length:

12 hours

Prerequisite(s):

  • A completed Live Burn Training Verification form is required
  • Completion of NFPA Fire Fighter I and Hazardous Materials First Responder: Operational Level are recommended
  • Live burn only: completion of the 8-hour classroom training is required
  • Students must also verify compliance with NFPA 1403 and OSHA 29 CFR requirements for working in full protective clothing and hazardous atmospheres

Accredited Certification Level:

Completion of the full 12-hour program will merit a "Flammable Gas Emergencies: Operational Level" certificate.

Standards Met:

Fire control components of NFPA 472, NFPA 1081 and OSHA 1910.120(q).

Student Equipment:

Full PPE and SCBA with spare air cylinder (current hydrostatic test)
