Confined Space Awareness and Non-Entry Rescue
Scope/Overview:
For plants that require only limited on-scene rescue capability, this one-day course provides essential training for entrants and attendants of permit-required confined spaces. Giving emphasis to safe entry practices and assessment of confined space hazards, the OSU program stresses self-rescue and non-entry rescue procedures. The company's emergency response plan and its interaction with Murphy's law receive special consideration throughout the training. The course meets OSHA 1910.146 requirements while covering proper care and usage of personal protective equipment, use of tripod and retrieval systems, atmospheric monitoring, communications, and rescue teambuilding. The course concludes with a simulated, non-entry rescue that includes hands-on participation from all rescue team members.
